Our experts will help you weigh your options and make sure you get the best solution with your budget. First, at no cost to you, we inspect your home to see what kind of work it needs. Then, we present you with options and help you choose the best one for your needs.
There is absolutely no obligation to pay for our services at the assessment stage. Whether your home insulation installation project is big or small, you can count on us to complete it in a way that leaves you fully satisfied.
What is a Home Energy Assessment?
During this FREE appointment, one of our experts will visit your home to inspect the areas you want to have insulated, as well as typical problem areas you may overlook. They will also perform a series of tests and measurements to figure out what your best options are. During this time, you can also ask about Section 25C Tax Credit.
After the assessment, you will receive a detailed report, prioritizing cost-effective ways to improve home energy usage. Whether or not you book our insulation or air sealing services, a Home Energy Assessment benefits you by giving you a better understanding of what parts of your home you can address to improve your home energy usage, and reduce your HVAC costs!
How much would insulation cost?
Our price quotes vary. To put simply, a price quote is usually determined by the type of insulation used, as well as the actual size and complexity of a job. However, it is important to not only consider the upfront cost of installation, but also the possible return on your investment.
On the contrary, leaving your home either uninsulated or under-insulated can cost you more money in the long run, in comparison to the initial investment of insulation.
Is insulation actually worth the investment?
The short answer is yes. Properly installed insulation pays for itself over time. By reducing heating and cooling costs, you can save anywhere between 22 to 50% annually. This is, of course, depends on your insulation type, as well as other factors, such as location, HVAC system, and general home construction. As the cost of heating and cooling continues to increase, you’ll benefit even more in the long run.
Where should I insulate?
In order to drastically increase energy efficiency while creating a comfortable living environment for you and your family, we recommend insulating your attic and your crawlspace first. We also recommend air sealing wherever there are small gaps and crevices through which air can leak.
What type of insulation do I need?
We can’t tell you that without measuring and assessing your space. Call 443-290-5182 to book a FREE Home Energy Assessment.
When is the best time to insulate?
While it’s common for homeowners to insulate in preparation for a hot summer or a cold winter, it’s always a good idea to prevent a spike in energy bills before they happen. The fact of the matter is, while one’s home may already have insulation installed, many forms of insulation need to be replaced from time to time in order to maintain their efficiency.
In worse cases, some homeowners only think of replacing their insulation after the underperforming insulation has already damaged other parts of their home (i.e. a pipe burst after being exposed to freezing temperatures).
Luckily, professional insulation contractors install insulation all year round. If you live in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area and you’re not sure whether you need to replace or upgrade your insulation, call 443-290-5182 to speak to one of our experts. Don’t worry, a consultation is free!
How do I know it's time to replace my insulation?
It’s likely that all your insulation was installed around the same time. If that’s the case, the easiest and safest easy way to check your insulation is to look at the most visible insulation you have. If you can see loose fill between the ceiling joists or exposed batts, settling, or discoloration, this means that it’s probably time to upgrade your home’s insulation.
Additional signs that you may need an insulation upgrade include:
- If you’re electric bill has been steadily climbing.
- Temperatures vary from room to room.
- Ice dams on your roof are forming, or the attic leaks water.
We can definitively tell you whether or not your insulation is due for replacement. Call 443-290-5182 for FREE Insulation Inspection and Home Energy Assessment.
Can I DIY my own insulation?
In some cases, technically, yes. However, we don’t recommend it without understanding how to determine which R-Values your project needs. Different types of insulation also have different properties, because they’re made with different materials. There are also many safety precautions to consider when installing or removing insulation

Will the most expensive insulation option give me the best results?
The short answer is no. Every home and situation is different. Most expensive does not always mean better for what you need, because not all homes and spaces need the highest R-Value available. Different types of insulation also have different properties, because they’re made with different materials.
Also, doing your own research may give you variable or sometimes contradictory results, and choosing the wrong type (ex. a more absorbent material for a damp area) will lead to more issues.
It’s best to consult an expert who can take a look at your space, run diagnostics, and recommend your best option(s). If you live in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area, call 443-290-5182 to schedule a free assessment.
What is R-Value?
R-value is defined as a measure of thermal resistance or ability to transfer from hot to cold through materials (such as insulation, walls, and floors.) The higher the R-value, the thicker the insulation and the more comfortable your home will be. It’s important to note that R-values vary across insulation materials.
Material | Typical R-Values Per Inch of Thickness |
Open-Cell Spray Foam | 3.5 – 3.6 |
Closed-Cell Spray Foam | 6.0 – 6.5 |
Rockwool | 3.0 – 4.1 |
Fiberglass Batt | 3.7 – 4.3 |
Blown-In Fiberglass | 2.2 – 4.3 |
Cellulose | 3.2 – 3.9 |
What R-Value does my home need in order to be comfortable during a harsh winter?
It depends! Generally, a home’s ideal R-value depends on what region of the country it is located in, as well as which areas of the home the homeowner plans to add insulation. For example, according to the Maryland Department of Energy, exterior walls should have an R-value ranging between R-13 and R-23, whereas for ceiling and attic areas, the range goes from R-38 to R-49.
Will I qualify for Section 25C Tax Credit?
If you work with us, we’ll walk you through the steps and provide you with the resources to make sure you do qualify. (We just can’t file your taxes for you.)
One of the ways home insulation and air sealing are becoming more affordable is that such improvements are considered “energy efficient,” and are incentivized by the US Government. If you’re a homeowner and you pay taxes each year, the cost of your home insulation or air sealing project (materials, not labor!) is eligible for Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit for up to $1,200 annually.
This is different than a tax deduction. A tax credit reduces the amount of taxes you owe, while a tax deduction reduces your total taxable income. The insulation tax credit only applies to federal taxes, not state taxes.
It all starts with a free home energy assessmen
Is insulation tax-deductible?
No. Insulation and air sealing are eligible for tax credit, rather than deduction. A tax credit reduces the amount of taxes you owe, while a tax deduction reduces your total taxable income. Also, the Energy Efficient Home Improvement credit only applies to federal taxes, not state taxes. Please see the previous FAQ or visit this page for more details.
